Aug 15, 2025 12-1 pm: Intro to Invasive Plants
New to the world of invasive plants? We’ll cover important invasive plant fundamentals like common terminology, what makes a plant invasive, how they’re introduced and spread, and how they’re managed throughout the state.

 

Sep 19, 2025, 12-1 pm: Cal-IPC Online Tools
Cal-IPC has loads of free weed management tools online! Join us for an overview of what these tools are and how to use them.

 

Oct 17, 2025, 12-2 pm: Invasive Ornamentals
Learn how to avoid choosing these plants for your landscaping and the unique challenges they create for policy makers and the green industry.

 

Fee-for-Service Trainings

Looking to get your organization trained up on invasive plant management? Cal-IPC can provide full-day, in-person trainings anywhere in California, with DPR credits if desired. Below are some of the programs we offer. We typically require  3 months advance notice to find a date that works for your group as well as our instructors. Contact ctaylor@cal-ipc.org for more details or to start planning a training.

Herbicide calibration trainings
This in-person training will focus on herbicide calibration and techniques for spot and broadcast backpack spraying, stump cut, basal bark, and drill and fill in wildland and non-row crop settings. Calibration math, nozzles, and herbicide application basics will also be covered.

Non-chemical tools and techniques for weed removal
This in-person training will focus on best practices in manual removal techniques for invasive plants. We will work with you to create a list of species or plant groups to focus on, and reach out to our network of land managers for locally specific techniques.

  • Need a minimum number of XX people guaranteed to attend, or we can do one for your worksite for a flat fee of $X,XXX.
  • Need a minimum of 3 months advance notice in order to find a date that works for your group as well as our instructors.
  • Full day, in-person only. 40 attendees maximum.
  • Anywhere in CA.
  • Can provide DPR credits.

 

Local weed training
What are the major weeds in your area, and what are the best ways to remove them? What do you do if you find a new population of weeds? What are some weeds to be on the lookout for? We will work with you to tailor the training to your location and the needs of your group. Great for continuing education for volunteer and gardening groups.

  • $500 for 1.5 hr online training.
  • Anywhere in CA.

 

Cal-IPC resources for weed management
From WeedCUT to the plant inventory to the many manuals available on our website, Cal-IPC will walk you through some tools and resources available to manage weeds. We will work with you to tailor the training to your location and the needs of your group.

  • $250 for 1 hr online training.
  • Extra $250 if DPR credit is needed.
