Bacopa monnieri (herb of grace; Plantaginaceae) is a succulent, mat-forming perennial that is native to the southeastern United States and has been introduced into various other parts of the world. It is listed as invasive in, e.g., Spain, Portugal, Japan, Singapore, and the Caymen Islands, and has naturalized in warm, moist habitats in California. Plants are low-growing, with oppositely arranged, sessile, succulent leaves and white-to-light purple singly arranged flowers. Bacopa monnieri can aggressively displace and dominate plant communities where it establishes. It is sold as an ornamental.
