Lodging

We have negotiated discounted room rates at Granlibakken Resort, the same location where the Symposium will occur. Please reserve a room through their website by Sept. 2 to receive the discounted rate.

Room rates:

  • Deluxe Room: Single occupancy: $145/night; Double occupancy: $110/night
  • Standard Room: Single occupancy: $120/night; Double occupancy: $84/night
  • Student Rooms (hostel-style): Multiple occupancy: $38/night

Parking: Free parking at Granlibakken Resort.


Getting to Tahoe City

  • Driving: Use this link to get personalized directions.
  • Flying: Major airlines serve Tahoe City through nearby Reno/Tahoe Airport (RNO) (~1 hour drive).
  • Airport Shuttle Service:
    • Granlibakken offers shuttle service from the airport to their resort, which you can purchase when you reserve your room.
    • North Lake Tahoe Express also serves the local area.
  • Train: Amtrak offers the California Zephyr, which runs through Truckee from the San Francisco Bay Area. You could also take the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Sacramento, or the San Joaquin from Bakersfield to Sacramento.
    • TART, the Tahoe Regional Transit, runs bus transportation from Truckee to the Tahoe City. 800-736-6365
  • Carpooling: Carpooling to the Symposium this year is especially important since so many state employees have restrictions on travel expenses. More information about carpooling coming soon.
  • Carbon offets: If you are concerned about the carbon emissions created by your travel to the Symposium, please visit the EPA's Personal Emissions Calculator to determine your "carbon footprint." Then donate to the organization of your choice, such as Terrapass or the Pacific Forest Trust.
