Habitat Restoration Workday at Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge, 2013 Habitat Restoration Workdays
Antioch, Contra Costa County:
Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge
Saturday, April 20 - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
The Antioch Dunes National Wildlife Refuge was the first national wildlife refuge in the country established to protect endangered plants and insects. The refuge and a few surrounding acres contain most of the remaining habitat for three endangered species, and are all that remain of a nine kilometer stretch of sand dunes that formed during glaciation periods. Because of its unique habitat the refuge is closed to the public, making volunteer opportunities even more coveted. The workday will include a history of the property, information about working with Safe Harbor Agreements and invasive plant control techniques. This workday will be on PG&E property adjacent to the Refuge.

Help protect the endangered Lange's Metalmark Butterfly
from invasive plants
Registration for this workday is free and open to the public, please use the registration link below so we know how many people to expect. Please bring a bag lunch. We will break for lunch on the beach.
